Toyota Corolla (E170): Before towing
The following may indicate a problem with your transmission. Contact your Toyota dealer before towing.
● The engine is running but the vehicle will not move.
● The vehicle makes an abnormal sound.

1. Inspect drive belt
Visually check the belt for excessive wear, frayed cords,
etc.
If any defect is found, replace the drive belt.
Hint:
cracks on the rib side of a belt are considered acceptable. If the
missing chunks from the ribs are found on the belt, it should be
replaced.

With the engine at operating temperature and turned off, check the oil level
on the dipstick.
■ Checking the engine oil
1 Park the vehicle on level ground. After warming up the engine and turning it
off, wait more than 5 minutes for the oil to drain back into the bottom of the engine.

Check if the stop lights go on and off normally when the brake pedal is
